A retired secondary school art instructor, Elliott pursued his knowledge of fine arts with a degree in advertising design and an M.F.A. in drawing and painting. He has an extensive background in woodcuts, silkscreen printing, illustrating and cartooning, and has done editorials for The San Marcos Daily Record for 23 years. His “Hill Country critters,” and unique lighting fixtures continue to be collected and commissioned across the country. Of himself, the artist says: What you see is the product of a lifetime of dreaming. I often have people tell me I am lucky to have this talent. More than talent, it is the ability to do hard, hot work over a long period of time, at a high level and searching out the next piece. The Old Mill Store is Elliott’s home base; the Hill Country flora and fauna his subject matter. Inspiration is always close at hand and ever changing. Elliott’s works bring a smile and sometimes a giggle, and always admiration of his craftsmanship. |
